Service of Light - St Saviour's Sunbury

A Poem for our dearly departed

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and many days before that too,

I think of you in silence and I often speak your name
All I have are memories now and your picture in a frame

These memories are my keepsake with which I’ll never part
As all these memories that I have mean you are in my heart.

So when I am feeling rather sad, alone or a little blue,
I look around me and imagine that part of you is still here too

I hear your voice in the wind and I turn to see your face;
The warmth of the wind caresses me as I stand silently in place.

I feel your touch in the sun as its warmth fills the sky;
I close my eyes to feel your embrace and my spirit soars so high.

I see your eyes in the window pane as I watch the falling rain;
It seems as each raindrop falls it quietly says your name.

As I now spend each day without you and embrace every trial
I remember you with such deep love that it just makes me smile

I hold you close in my heart today as I remember you yet again;
and I know that you will always be a part of me
even though things will never be the same.
